Kayleigh made her birthday cake and she was VERY surprised when she saw it! So surprised that she ended up crying. It took her 3 hours to do it and she put a lot of hard work into it! It turned out so pretty :)
Kacey woke up this morning with a fasting BG of 143 ...perfect! She woke up on her own and she wasn't grumpy! Thats a definate sign that we're off to a great start :) By lunch she was a 77...low but we'll take that over a 300 any day! Her party started at 2pm and when she tested she was a nice 116. I knew she'd be very active for the party, between the games and the dancing. She wasn't very hungry and when it was time for cake, she had cake AND ice cream and only topped out at a 186! That's EXCELLENT since we'd been battling those 300's for a week. It looks like the dose change she had was perfect! She's stayed under 200 all day :) She had a great party and got lots of nice presents! It was great to get together with family...but I'm thankful it's all over and I'm worn out. The best part about today was even though I tested her sugar during the party, it never stopped her from having fun and enjoying her big day. She didn't get "sugar sick" and she wasn't grumpy. Just for today, she seemed to be back to her old self!

I'm so glad Kacey had a good day! :) Birthdays are days we DON'T want diabetes in the way. I'm glad it turned out good. And Kayleigh did a great job on her cake! :) Tell her I said keep it up!
Hopefully Kacey will get her birthday gift from me sometime this week. It depends on how long it takes the lady to get it made and get it in the mail....
Happy Birthday Kacey! Sounds like it was an excellent day! :-)
