Well...Kacey's had her first "moretic" moment.
(For those of you that don't know what "moretic" means, click the link above)
She came home quite upset today about an afternoon blood sugar of 418. She couldn't understand why she was so high and we thought it was the new site we put in this morning. It wasn't a perfect site and burned for a bit and she said it "tingled" when she bent certain ways. I tried to convince her to let me change it but her dinner blood sugars were back down so I figured it wasn't the site that caused it. I took her pump to download the history so I could send it to her CDE since I didn't do that on Sunday because of my own issues. As I looked over today's history, I found out exactly WHY she was a 418. There was NO bolus for lunch!!! I went storming into her room and asked her what in the world happened? She said she didn't know? Then she began to cry uncontrollably and she told me that she was being rushed to lunch and she was writing down her blood sugar, which was a 174 and then someone was talking to her and she couldn't remember if she dosed or not? She thought she did and she went on to lunch....2 hours later....yep theres the 418! Crap! So I sat and showed her how to view the history in case that happens again and she will be able to see if she dosed herself. Ahhhh...I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later! I'm glad she only peaked at a 418 because by 4:30pm she was down to a 255. Thank goodness for basals! Poor kid! I think she was scared because she knows she has to take her insulin. She was down to a 190 for bed so we'll chalk this up to "lesson learned"!

I like that...chalk it up to lessons learned. I'm sure it won't be the last time this happens. At least she knows how to check her bolus history now though so she can check.
Poor girl! She has always done a great job caring for herself too! It was a great lesson learned! Hugs to Kacey!
I still often forget if I bolused or not. Home screen #2 for the win!
Oh Kacey :( Remember that you are not alone. I've done it with Tristan. I thought his father had corrected him and he thought I had corrected him.... and well your lucky that you only went to 418!!!! :) Mistakes do happen. What is important is that you learn from those mistakes.
Jill, I am now catching up on everything. I can't believe that you had to wait so long to get confirmation of the fracture in your foot!! That's ridiculous. I will keep my eye out today for a post letting us know if you have mono or not.... hopefully you don't! :)
Happens to all of us. Every last one, grown up or not! :-)
Kacey-
WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!
It happens to all of us Chicklets, and we learn from it~
I LOVE that your reinforcing ownership of Kacey diabetes to her- SO IMPORTANT!
Your both doing a GREAT job- Moretic move or not!

Hey Kacey. I've done it before too. I will never forget it. I forgot to dose Riley for breakfast on his very first day of Kindergarten. And, once this year his teacher forgot to get him to bolus for snack.
It happens. Live and learn....
Poor girl! I'm sure you told her it can happen and not to worry, she's doing such an awesome job of taking care of herself!
Just let her know that she's the same age as my daughter and she's doing way more than her! Jessi doesn't even do half of what Kacey does so she should be proud of herself and not too tough on herself. You're doing great kiddo!
It just sucks that our kids have to know so much at their age instead of just being carefree and goofy irresponsible.
Keep up the good work, Kacey :)
I mixed up Addy's Lantus and Novolog once. Geez, what a mess that was!!!! Oh, and once I dropped the ONLY vial of Novolog we had on a tile floor -- man that thing shattered!!!! I actually contemplated pulling up her dose out of the grout...
Wendy- reminds me of the time that I was mixing Jada's morning shot and accidentally injected the vial of lantus with a couple of units of novolog! I was so mad at myself! Fortunately, we did have another vial of lantus on hand!
